Almancil is the area with the most varied mix of all those we work in. Permanent residences, restaurants, shops, offices, estate agents and service companies, all within the same square kilometre — and all with air conditioning running many hours a day, all year round.
It is different from the closed villas of Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo. Here the problem is not idle equipment. It is equipment that never stops.
Restaurants, the most demanding case
Almancil has a concentration of restaurants with no parallel in the region for its size. And a kitchen changes everything when it comes to air conditioning.
In a home, what enters the unit is dust, pollen and fabric fibres. In a restaurant, what enters is grease in the air. Grease behaves differently: it does not settle as a loose layer, it adheres. It clogs the heat exchanger in a fraction of the time and demands a different product and more time on the job.
In practice, a restaurant dining room unit needs two cleans a year. One of the same make and power installed in a living room needs one.
We work outside service hours whenever necessary.
Shops and offices
The issue here is different and almost always the same: equipment installed years ago, running daily, with nobody responsible for maintenance because it is nobody's business.
The signs arrive slowly. A room that cools less than the others. The thermostat that goes down over the months. An electricity bill that has risen for no reason. And, later, the smell.
An experimental study on split units measured a 19% drop in cooling capacity with around 30% of the heat exchanger surface blocked, and a rise of more than 6% in consumption. In a commercial space with several units running eight hours a day, that is money every month.
Homes
In permanent residences in Almancil the pattern is intense summer use — the climate normals for Faro record 35 days a year above 30 °C and 45 nights above 20 °C — and some heating use in winter.
One clean a year, booked for April or May, covers the whole year. Filters are washed at home every two months during the season of use.
Where we are based
Our base is in Loulé, a few minutes away. Almancil is one of the areas where we can respond fastest.
